Kindo Smoking Cessation Program

Thank you for your interest in Smoking Cessation, the best inquiry you made today!

We at Point Well Taken Acupuncture Center applaud your decision to quit smoking. Quitting smoking is the greatest contribution you will make into your personal health account.  Smoking related conditions have huge transactional costs to our families, our communities, and ourselves.  Companies’ health care costs are spiraling out of control.  Adverse medical claims, absenteeism and lowered productivity are all consequences of tobacco and nicotine addition.

In the making for over fifteen years, the Kindo Smoking Cessation Program has been effective for thousands of addicts.  Addictions to heroin and crack cocaine have been successfully terminated using this program as well.

The typical program lasts the duration of one month, and is as follows:

WEEK 1:

Day 1:

A/Consultation (Tuesday morning)

You will have up to a one hour consultation to overview the principles of the program with the acupuncturist.  At this consultation, the acupuncturist will determine your eligibility to begin the program.  To be eligible to begin the program, you must be dedicated 100% to quitting smoking, and completely abstain from cigarettes immediately following the first treatment.  Please allow for 2 hours in your schedule for Day 1.

B/Treatment #1 (Tuesday AM)

Congratulations, you have been accepted into the program and as of today you are an EX-smoker?  You will have your first acupuncture treatment following your consultation on Tuesday morning.  For this week’s acupuncture treatments, please allow for 40 minutes in your schedule.  Education pertaining to breathing techniques, quit smoking visualizations, and stress reduction exercises will also be introduced today.  Herbal formulas will be prescribed for you to take for the duration of treatments.

C/Treatment #2 (Tuesday PM)

The first two days of the program, Tuesday & Wednesday, there will be two acupuncture treatments per day.  The appointments will be scheduled spread out over the course of the day; one in the a.m and one in the p.m.  In these first two days, your body will be detoxifying from the nicotine and it is important that you come in for treatments two times per day.

Day 2: Treatments #3 and #4 (Wednesday afternoon and evening)

We will see you again for treatments on Wednesday afternoon and evening.  Your body will be fere of nicotine by the end of today.  Remember to stay on your herbal formula!

Day 3, 4, 5: Treatments #5, 6, and #7 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday)

For the remainder of the week, you will be coming in for one acupuncture treatment per day.

WEEKS 2, 3, and 4:

Treatments #8- #13

For the next three weeks, you will be coming in for acupuncture treatment twice weekly.   Again, please allow for 40 minutes in your schedule for these treatments.  You can schedule these appointments for whichever days and times are best for you.  We recommend that you break them up by a day or two; for example a Tuesday morning and a Thursday fternoon treatment.

Education During these three weeks, there will be additional education incorporated into your treatments aimed towards helping you develop a healthy, stress free life style that supports you as a non-smoker.  You need to schedule three 45 minutes appointments for education and treatment, and you will arrive 10 minutes early to read materials before the appointment begins.

Re-Evaluation During week 4, your final week of treatment, you need to schedule a re-evaluation with your acupuncturist.  It is required for your spouse to attend this session with you.  Please allow for one and a half hours in your schedule for this re-evaluation followed by treatment.  During this re-evaluation, your acupuncturist will review your treatment results and discuss any concerns or symptoms you may be experiencing now that you have completed the program.  It will also be determined whether or not additional treatments will be recommended to sustain your results and keep you on track.

COSTS:

The following costs describe the typical smoking program lasting the duration of one month.

Day 1 Consultation $150.00
Acupuncture Treatments 13 treatments @ $75 each $975.00
Herbal Formulas 2 bottles @ $25 each $50.00
Week 4 Re-Evaluation $150.00

Total Program Cost:  $1,325.00

A typical program is adequate for the average one to one and one half pack per day smoker.  During your consultation on Day 1, the acupuncturist will determine with you if the typical program fits your individual needs, or the acupuncturist may revise the program customized to you.

Clients find the benefits of treatments to exceed their expectations.  Frequently other health problems improve during the quit smoking sessions.  Health conditions that typically respond to treatments are: sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, PMS, asthma, allergies, acid reflux, colitis, neck or back pain, and general tension, stress disorders.

We consider this to be your #1 priority.  Quitting smoking requires changes in habits and behaviors.  For out of town participants, we will recommend lodging, restaurants, activities and events in the Baltimore area if requested.  We base our recommendations on your needs and preferences.
